Entertainments | Restaurant Reviews | Knights
Located in Warwick's Lord Leycester Hotel, Knight's Restaurant is a dining delight.

Small and tastefully decorated the restaurant has a sophisticated air.

My dining companion and I visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening and found we were the only diners there.

This proved to be a bonus rather than an embarrassment as my friend and I had the luxury of enjoying the restaurant all to ourselves.

Having settled down at a table in the far corner of the room we were presented with leather bound menus through which to peruse.

This proved to be difficult task as many of the dishes sounded so tempting it was difficult to choose.

I settled on the oak smoked salmon with lime dressing and baby capers as a starter and my companion opted for the timble of goats cheese with Mediterranean vegetables and pesto dressing.

Although the salmon was tasty I found the lime dressing slightly overpowering and combined with the capers was slightly to tangy for my taste.

My friend thought the timble of goats cheese was delicious. She described it as very moreish and said it was complemented well by the vegetables and pesto dressing.

We were presented with complementary lemon sorbets to clean our palettes for the main course.

For this I ordered the cushion of chicken with a tomato and mushroom mousse served with Cafe de Paris butter and my friend ordered the roast barbury duck with an apple fondant and piquant orange sauce.

The chicken was moist and succulent and the tomato and mushroom mousse provided a light sharp flavour and added interest to what would otherwise have been a dull dish.

My friend thought her duck was perfectly cooked and found the fresh tang of the apples combined with orange sauce offset the heaviness of the duck nicely.

Although feeling very full at this point we decided it was in the interests of the review that we should press on and try the tempting sounding desserts on offer.

I selected the hot apple tarte tatin with a caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream and my friend chose the cherry and almond tart with an orange sorbet.

The apple tart is definitely a choice for people with a sweet tooth as it bordered on being too sweet, but I thought it was heavenly and my only regret was finishing it off too quickly.

My friend loved her choice and found the crunchiness of the almonds and the fruits stopped the dish from being too sickly.

Following the recommendation of our waiter, I also ordered a glass of the Niersteiner Gutes Domtal - a light, fragrant fruity white wine which complemented the meal well.

My friend opted for the Norte Chico Merlot, a red Chilean wine which she was equally pleased with.

The service provided by the waiters on duty was impeccable.

Dining out at Knight's Restaurant proved to be a pleasant, relaxed and highly enjoyable.

A meal for two came to just under £60.
