Wartime photographs found in Kenilworth

More wartime family photographs have been discovered in Kenilworth.
Since a picture of four Whitemoor Road brothers who survived the First World War was published in the Weekly News on June 4, one of their grandsons Malcolm Moore has found a large collection of family pictures.
His grandfather was Albert Reynolds, one of the lucky four who returned from the trenches. When Albert’s daughter Margaret died recently, a wonderful collection of pictures was among her belongings. Mr Moore, 48, spoke to the Weekly News about several of them.

He said: “”My father Jack was a sniper during the Second World War and survived. My mum’s brothers John and Stan Reynolds also got through. John came back from Dunkirk. Stan was in the Merchant Navy and got sunk a few times. We were a pretty lucky family.”
Pictured here are John, Stan and Jack with their battalions during the Second World War and Albert during the First.

Mr Moore, a builder, decided not to join the services himself.
He said: “My dad told me not to volunteer. If I ever did I would expect somebody to be looking after me, too.”
His paternal grandfather also fought in the First World War but committed suicide after being sent home with shrapnel wounds.
