Fancy that! All the fun of the 1949 carnival (December 2004)

Do you recognise anyone in the picture?Amusing costumes made Kenilworth Carnival all the more fun in 1949.

Former town resident Anne Boore, nee Caswell, sent us this photograph from her collection. She now live in Cardiff but still reads the Weekly News.

Her father Tom Caswell, is bravely dressed as Lady Godiva in the front row. Butcher George Hunn, who had a shop in Warwick Road, is Queen Victoria on the far left.

No doubt the judges enjoyed seeing all the costume entries and choosing winners. Do you recognize any of the other men pictured - behind their disguises? Email us with your memories: editorial@leamingtoncourier.co.uk
