Nicolinis, The Parade, Leamington
In Leamington town centre you can hardly walk ten yards or so without coming across another menu or A-board inviting one inside to eat, drink and make - if not be - merry.
The constantly-changing eating out scene in Leamington and its neighbours Warwick and Kenilworth is, to my mind, one of the area’s best attractions. Not surprisingly, some restaurants come and go; thankfully, others thrive and survive.
Those that do so have ensured that we are blessed with an abundance of good places to eat. Nicolinis at the top end of the Parade is among these and a recent visit was as excellent as previous ones. Three of us took our leisure and pleasure with relish. At about £85 including wine, value for money was a pleasant bonus.
My thinly sliced halibut carpaccio and pheasant in wine casserole were delicious; my companions spoke in equally glowing terms of their soup and shellfish pasta starters and the sea bream they both chose as a main course.
As always, adding to the occasion was the pleasant décor, the relaxed atmosphere and the accomplished, professional service. Friendly touches never go amiss.
I look forward to another visit to Nicolinis in the not too distant future. But first, there are a few untried venues on my list.
