The winners and runners up - adult category

The winner, highly commended and runner up pictures for the adult category:

 

WINNER: Syd Wall

Syd Wall of Admington, Shipston-on-Stour (pictured left) is the winner of our Holiday Photograph of the Year Competition 2006 (Adults) for his picture of his wife Kate and daughter Caragh in the waves at Cornwall this year. Syd, who worked for many years at IBM in Warwick, took the picture with a Canon Eos 10D this summer. The judges said: "He captured the moment brilliantly. There is lots of action, the faces can be seen clearly and he has arrested the water."

HIGHLY COMMENDED: Ceara Hayden

HIGHLY COMMENDED: Sue Harrop

Ceara Hayden of Bubbenhall for her picture of an elephant’s shadow, taken in Zimbabwe. The judges said: "This is a clever picture. Ceara has a good eye for photographs and is clearly fearless in taking them!"

Sue Harrop of Stone Hill, Bloxham took this picture of Ben with a ball on the beach. Sue has portrayed a colourful subject, made good use of light and shade, and resisted the temptation to overcrop the picture.

Ian Smallwood submitted this comment on modern holiday-making.

Joyce Noon captured this amusing moment of a search for an ice cream in Rhodes this August.

Katie Lawton of Moreton Morrell submitted this picture from her visit to Tamil Nadu in Indian. Her photo is of two boys from the school where she taught.
