Wayne Powell's final game in caretaker charge saw Leamington slump to their fifth league defeat in six, with Truro becoming the fourth team this season to leave the New Windmill with maximum points.
Having spoken prior to the game of the need to address the side's defensive problems, Powell brought in former Torquay United goalkeeper Ryan Northmore to make his debut in place of Chris Kiely.

However, Northmore was to endure a nightmare start w
hen a misunderstanding between him and Ryan Parisi in the second minute allowed Scott Walker's cross to reach Andy Taylor at the back post.

Presented with an open goal, the former Exeter City midfielder put the visitors 1-0 up.

Having being on the road since 7am, Brakes may have expected Truro to be a little leg weary in the early stages, but just nine minutes later they were 2-0 up and coasting.

A cross to the far post found Taylor and his cut-back at the second attempt was swept home by Les Afful.

Dangerous balls into the box from Mark Bellingham and Michael Tuohy went to waste as Brakes tried to muster a response.

Truro keeper Martin Rice was finally called into action in the 25th minute when Luke Corbett's free-kick was hit straight at him.

With the visitors content to sit back on their two-goal lead and Brakes struggling to find a cutting edge, there was precious little to warm the crowd on a chilly afternoon.

However, Truro right back Barry McConnell did his best to raise the temperature with his constant harranguing of the match officials attracting the ire of the home support.

Brakes emerged after the interval in determined mood and were rewarded in the 49th minute.

A strong run by Tuohy saw him feed Bellingham in the box and the Brakes striker produced a neat turn and finish for his 16th goal of the campaign.

Leamington were enjoying their best period of the game, with Stuart Herlihy to the fore, and thought they had an equaliser minutes later.
Corbett and a defender slid in with Rice to meet a threatening cut-back from Bellingham and the ball trickled into the back of the net.

However, referee Chris Husband spotted an infringement by Corbett and disallowed the goal.

Herlihy was narrowly wide with a shot after a forceful run and Bellingham failed to get any purchase on a header after climbing well as Brakes took control.

Murphy was then inches away from converting after a clever header back across goal from Bellingham.

However, despite being on the back foot, it was to be Truro who scored the next goal, with a rare foray into Brakes' box inviting a rash challenge, referee Husband having no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

McConnell stepped up to confidently dispatch the penalty and restore a two-goal advantage that Truro never looked like relinquishing.

Tuohy saw a shot from outside the box safely pouched by Rice and then lashed a drive wide of the post as Brakes briefly looked for a way back, but Truro were still creating chances of their own with Andy Watkins putting a free header over the bar and fellow substitute Joe Broad seeing a first-time shot go narrowly wide of the far post in the 81st minute.
