Owner John Dhaliwal has headhunted top class chefs from the world famous five-star Jumeriah Beach Hotels in Dubai for his kitchens and produced a menu and dining experience that keeps Mem-Saab true to her name - in a class of her own.

His aspirations for changing the quality of Indian food in Leamington is evident in the stylish interior that is a carefully thought out balance of contemporary and Indian craftsmanship.

This is reflected in the bar area of the restaurant where guests can relax with a drink before their meal or a coffee after.

All the food is freshly prepared from the finest ingredients and the menu is themed around various 'redoubtable ladies of the Raj'.

As well as meat and fish options, there is the vegetarian selection of Clara Beminster of the 1917 Theosophical Society, and Flora Anna Steel's 'tiffin' menu of English dishes such as fillet of beef and salmon concase.

The menu offers an extensive array of regional delights accompanied by a range of home-made pickles, chutneys and yogurts.

For starters, choose from the Goan Steamed Mussels, or the northern Indian speciality achari Murgh Tikka - chunks of lightly charred chicken breast in a fragrant green masala marinade served with yogurt and corinader relish.

Main courses include Butter Chicken Masala, Mixed Seafood Palou and Beef and Potato Madras among others.

There is a wide selection of wines and premium spirits to choose from and a well-stocked bar.

Mr Dhaliwal has 27 years' experience in the profession and invites diners to share in his unique fusion of the old world and the new.

He said: "We came to Leamington to fill a gap in the market. We feel it needs a top quality restaurant with traditional authentic food and high levels of service and surroundings, along with full focus on housekeeping, professionalism and consistency being high on the agenda"
