CHILDREN were given plenty of inspiration during creative sessions at various venues across south Warwickshire during the half term holiday.

Among activities organised by the county council’s heritage education department were ‘crazy clay’ workshops at Market Hall Museum in Warwick, where participants were inspired to create clay pots and baskets by observing and handling ancient Egyptian clay objects.

And at St John’s Museum in Warwick, youngsters learnt about the history of images, watching a magic lantern show and making their own lanterns using Victorian methods.

The council’s Heritage Education team uses the collections of Warwickshire Museum Service and the County Record Office to make the heritage of Warwickshire accessible.

The team organises talks, activities, events and workshops for school groups, children, families, young people and adults. To find out about future school holiday events and term-time courses and activities, call 412069, asking for the heritage education team, or go online.
