Free trees to inspire learning at school

OAK, birch, cherry, hazel and hawthorn - and two oaks from the Royal Estate - are just some of the varieties among the 160 trees that Whitnash Primary school pupils have planted at their on-site ‘forest’ area.

The trees were donated to the school after headteacher Deborah Fulford, along with the school’s environmental group, was successful in her bid to the Woodland Trust.

The group, whose members are parents Jon Shaddick and Julie Williams and the school’s Forest Schools leader Heidi Saunders, aims to provide an inspirational and nurturing space in the school’s outdoor area.

Mrs Fulford said: “We want our children to enjoy and be inspired by the natural environment around them.”
