LIGHTHORNE people got into the festive spirit for a good cause on Saturday as village pub the Antelope Inn laid on its first Christmas market to raise funds for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

Traders and other charities manning 15 stalls offered visitors the chance to buy a range of gifts, novelty items, Christmas trees and clothing, while there were also stalls run by producers including the popular Glebe Farm in Ashorne selling speciality cheeses, meats, chutneys, beer and other food and drink items.

Dean Hannaby, co-owner of the pub, said about 50 people came along to the market. He said: “The event went well. We may do it again. We are still counting the funds raised, but it will be a couple of hundred to donate to the air ambulance.”

The pub also hosts an annual go-karting race for charity every August, for which karts must be home-made.
