Students from Warwick-shire College's acquired brain Injury programme have unveiled a bench in tribute to their tutor Linda Napoleoni.
The lecturer, who founded the course in 2000, died in January last year and was remembered in speeches made by her pupils at the ceremony last month.
More than £400 was raised by the group to install the bench and plant a tree at the college’s Leamington centre.
Course tutor Chris McGovern said: “Her mum Ruby, sister Carol and daughter were there and they were so pleased. We have had some lovely messages from them.
“Everyone was very positive and I was very proud of the students because it takes a lot to organise something like that and they were able to give their speeches which is a big thing for them. Most of them were able to acknowledge the help and support they had been given.”
When the brain injury programme began it had 19 students who had suffered brain injuries from accidents or illnesses. They started by studying communications, ceramics, art and craft and woodworking.
There are now more than 60 people on the course and they study a much broader range of classes and subjects. Some of the students are pictured (right).
