Pupils at Newburgh Primary School, in Kipling Avenue, showed their prowess to win the Warwick Area Indoor Athletics competition
And what makes it an even bigger achievement is that none had participated in indoor athletics until just weeks before the competition on February 7.

Hide AdHeadteacher Andrew Smith said 25 children from years five and six took part.
Newburgh now progress to the Central Warwickshire Area Finals as representatives of Warwick primary schools next Friday at Campion School.
Mr Smith added: “The children all performed superbly.
“The way they competed and supported each other was a credit to each of them.
“This also shows to them what hard work, practice and dedication can achieve.

Hide Ad“My personal philosophy is that all children are good at something and all children should have a go at something if they can.
“Sport creates an opportunity for them to succeed which gives them confidence and raises their self esteem.”
Mr Smith became head in September and hopes to involve the school in more sporting competitions.
