They say elephants never forget, but fundraisers in Leamington are hoping to jog people's memory about the animals' links to the town.
Leamington Round Table has organised the Elephant Walk on Sunday (October 5) as a family event to follow on from the success of the group's Regency Run.
Children and families who take part in the three-mile event in aid of Warwick Hospital will learn historical facts and items of interest, such as a ramp down to the River Leam where elephants once bathed.
Some 200 children are already expected to take part, with prizes for the best elephant mask and the most sponsorship raised.
Organiser Steine Paget Wall said: "It's all about having some fun while raising money for two very good causes, Warwick Hospital's children's unit and its cancer ward.
"Both of these appeals require continued support to maintain the high levels of patient care and family wellbeing they provide."
Round Table chairman Nick Herd hopes the walk will become an annual event. He added: "We will be proud of the fact that the local community can join in making a make a difference to people's lives by supporting these appeals and having some fun.
"Surely that can't be a bad thing in these times of uncertainty."
The walk will start at the bandstand in Pump Room Gardens at 10am.
Those taking part will be given a map and a series of questions for their children to answer.
There is a minimum sponsorship fee of £10.
