PARISH CHURCH: Services this week are Requiem Eucharist (All Souls Day) on Friday at 7pm, and Eucharist on Sunday at 10am.
Christmas cards with a watercolour of the village and church in snow, by Brian Aldridge are on sale from the post office. The cards are priced at £1 each, 40p of which will be donated to the Parish Church Fabric Fund.


METHODIST CHAPEL: Morning s
ervice on Sunday at 10.30am will be led by Dr Mike Graveney.


COFFEE MORNING: Coffee and biscuits will be served between 10.15am and midday at Friday’s weekly coffee morning at the Methodist Sunday School Room on High Street. Everyone welcome. Next Friday (November 9) light lunches will be served from midday.


WINTER WALK: The first of a series of walks around our local area arranged by the Footpath Group is on Sunday starting at 10am at the War Memorial. This is the three parish walk of about five miles which should take about two and a half hours. Please wear boots or wellies especially if it has been wet. Further details available from Brian Peers on 01295 770644. Note there are no facilities on this walk.


ABACUS TREASURE HUNT: Abacus pre-school nursery is holding a treasure hunt on Sunday to raise funds for the nursery. The hunt will be around Fenny Compton and can be completed on foot in approximately one hour. Teams can start from the village hall any time after 10am but must complete the hunt by 2pm. A prize of £20 is in offer for the winning team which must collect all the clues in the shortest time. There will also be a mini hunt for children running at the same time. Entry fee per team is £5. Refreshments will be available at the village hall. To register your team please see Michelle at Abacus or phone Sally on 01295 770089 or just turn up on the day.


LOCAL FIREWORKS: We’re lucky this year as Avon Dassett’s display is on Sunday with bonfire lit at 6.30pm and fireworks at 7pm, and Warmington’s on Bonfire Night, Monday, November 5 also from 6.30pm.


RECYCLING COLLECTION: Green wheelie bins and black boxes will be emptied on Monday. Please put them out by 7am.


DASSETT MEN’S CLUB: The Dassett Men’s Club meets on Wednesday evening at 8pm in the Avon Dassett Reading Room when John Bishop MH will give a talk on the history of the Warwickshire Beagles and aspects of hare conservation. The club meets on the first Wednesday of the month until March. Membership for the season is just £7 and includes refreshments. OVER SIXTIES CLUB: There will be a party at the Kineton Darby and Joan Club in Kineton village hall at 3pm next Thursday. This month’s meeting at Fenny Compton village hall for the over sixties club is at 2pm on Tuesday, November 13 when there will be a beetle drive organised by year six pupils from the Dassett School. Everyone welcome.


WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: This month’s meeting is on Wednesday, November 14 at 7.30pm in the village hall with a Call my Bluff quiz.
