ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL SERVICE: At St Botolph's in Farnborough at 10am on Sunday there will be an all age service of thanksgiving service with a Blessing of Animals. Everyone, particularly children are welcome.

METHODIST CHAPEL: Morning ser
vice with Holy Communion on Sunday at 10.30am will be led by Rev John Taylor.

COFFEE MORNING AND LUNCH: Coffee and biscuits will be served between 10.15am and midday at Friday's weekly coffee morning at the Methodist Sunday school room on High Street. Light lunches will be served from midday. Everyone welcome.

PARISH COUNCIL: The parish council meets on Monday evening at 7.45pm in
the village hall. Residents are most welcome to attend.

SPEEDING: Please do not speed through the village – remember there is 20mph speed limit. If you hit a pedestrian at 20mph there is a 95 per cent chance they will survive. At 30mph this is reduced to 80 per cent, and at 35mph it reduces to a mere 20 per cent chance of survival. If you slow down to 20mph it will take you less than a minute longer to travel through the village, which hopefully is not too much to ask for.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING: Thanks to everyone who attended, donated gifts and all the helpers at last week's coffee morning. £1055 was raised for the Macmillan nurses. Since (and including) 2002 Fenny Compton has raised the magnificent sum of £7566.61 for this deserving charity.

DASSETT SCHOOL: Year six hold their class assembly today (Friday) at 9.15am. All parents and friends welcome. School breaks up for the half term holiday next Friday, October 19. The children are due back in school on Tuesday, October 30 because of a staff training day on the Monday.

QUIZ NIGHT: The Friends of the Dassett School are holding a fun quiz this evening (Friday) at 7.30pm in school. Teams of four are invited to enter (£4 per team member). A licensed bar will be provided.

PARISH PLAN 2007 ON DISPLAY: On Sunday from 11am until 5pm the results of the parish plan questionnaire will be on display in the village hall. Please come along to see the results and share your views on the future of Fenny Compton. Also attending will be the police, local councillors and the leader of the proposed traffic group. This is your opportunity to have a say about your community and the things that affect it, including: village development, the environment, transport and traffic, crime and emergency services, local government etc – things that matter to us all. Refreshments will be available and there will be a bouncy castle for the youngsters.

FIRST RESPONDERS NEEDS YOU: Have you thought about becoming a first responder? If so then why not do something about it. Fenny Compton First Responders has been up and running for over five years and during that time has been called out on numerous occasions to residents of Fenny Compton and the surrounding villages, providing vital support before an ambulance can get there. The number in the group has now dwindled to such a small number that the onus on providing this support is falling on just a few people. If you are interested in becoming part of this voluntary team serving our community then please contact Phil Barker on 07760390893 for more information. Comprehensive training is provided for all first responders, and contrary to popular belief, being an active member of the team does not mean that you have to stay at home when on duty. All our first responders lead normal lives and are only on call when they are able to. If they need to pop to Tesco, or collect the kids from school or whatever then they go off call. The bottom line is that any cover is better than no cover at all. So don't be put off because you can't give a dedicated 12-hour period to the service. No-one else can either.

ROCK AND ROLL OKTOBERFEST: From 8pm until 11pm on Saturday night at the village hall. Tickets £8 (£7 concessions) to include a beer and a sausage. Live rock from Fenny's own band Hypernaut. Tickets available from any member of the village hall committee, the post office or call Suzanne on 01295 770243.

PILATES: Pilates classes run every week on Mondays from 2pm to 3pm, and Thursdays from 8.15pm to 9.15pm at the village hall. Cost is £4.50 per class. The classes are suitable for beginners and those with some experience, and will be run on a pay-as-you-go basis by qualified instructor Clare Everest. Please bring a mat or towel to lie on.

YOUTH GROUP: First Mates youth group meets on Thursday evening from 6.30pm until 8pm in the village hall. All ten to fourteen year-olds welcome.

TOTS AND TODDLER GROUP: Tots and Toddlers meets each Wednesday from 9am until midday in the village hall. All babies and toddlers with their parents, grandparents and carers are welcome to drop in for play, chat and refreshments. Please contact Sam on 01295 770611 for more information.
