PARISH CHURCH: For the third year running, St Peter's is giving people the chance to go back to church at a special service. Helping with this will be Rt Rev John Stroyan, the Bishop of Warwick, who will be the guest speaker on that day, on his first official visit to St Peter's.
Back to Church is being held on Sunday, September 16 at 8.30am and 10.30am. The Bishop will be at the later of the two services. There will also be special activities for the children during the service and afterwards there will be cakes and scones. In Combroke, the Back to Church Sunday will be on Sunday, September 30.
The church needs more bell ringers, as it is often one or two ringers short on a Sunday morning. It does require commitment to ring on a Sunday for morning services. The practice is on Monday evenings from 7.30pm.
PRIMARY SCHOOL: Children around three years old should be registered for a school place to start in September 2008. The closing date is October 19. Please telephone the school for further details.
SPORTSMAN'S DINNER: This will take place at the sports and social club on Friday, September 14, where the guest speaker will be Geoff Miller, England selector.
CAMERA CLUB: The first monthly meeting of the new season for the club will take place in the village hall on Tuesday, September 18 from 7.30pm until 10pm. At this open meeting where everyone is welcome, Mary Wheildon will present her visit to South Georgia and the Antarctic, so if you like penguins, you will like this. The Camera Club meetings encompass chat, presentations, workshops, tea, coffee and friendly help.
For anyone interested, now is the time to become a new member, with subscriptions costing only £10 for the year (September-June).
