I TOTALLY agree with Mr Taylor (Warwick Courier, last week). The Woodloes is a lovely estate and lovely place to live which is being spoilt by a number of pathetic yobs who I believe call themselves the 'CV34 gang' - I've read the grafitti - who think they are untouchable.
I am a female Woodloes resident who visits the estate shops regularly and I feel very uneasy when these yobs are hanging around, shouting, smoking and kicking a football which I believe is very dangerous.

The police must know who they are. Why hav
e they not stopped them before now? Is it going to take a serious incident before they are stopped?

Already shops signs have been broken, the Sarah Siddons pub has been vandalised and these yobs think nothing of throwing apples, eggs and other things at people's houses - not to mention the grafitti. The parents of these teenagers must feel ashamed and disgusted.
I look foward to the arrival of CCTV cameras. - Woodloes resident.

  • AS a resident I was pleased to see someone taking an interest in the vandalism that is allowed to go on unchecked around the Woodloes precinct (Courier, last week).

Woodloes is not in general a rough estate, but it does suffer from what appears to be a mindless few who seem determined to bring the central area of the estate down to an unacceptable level, particularly with graffiti which re-appears regularly.

The fencing around the shop area has been a target for years, the latest being the fencing around the local public house. Another is the bus stop sign at the car park which has been uprooted recently. We lost the bus shelter a long time ago due to constant vandalism.

We are lucky to have a good selection of shops on this estate and regret that the shopkeepers have to put up with this state of affairs.
Please Warwickshire Constabulary, can we have some effective policing round here to stamp this hooliganism out before the whole estate is not fit for decent people to live on. - A resident (name and address supplied).

  • I AGREE that the Woodloes estate is rough area (Courier, last week) but the reason why the teenagers vandalise the place is because they are bored and there isn't enough facilities or clubs.

The police can't stop this because the teenagers will always get away and come back. There will always be yobs on the Woodloes because the younger kids are copying the older kids.

As the teenagers who are causing the grief at the moment get older, places like the Woodloes shop will get better because the kids will be able to go to clubs and pubs.

This means that they won't be out on the streets most of the time. - Laura Field (email address supplied).

  • I DO not think the Woodloes estate is a rough area (Courier, last week). However, I do think that the Reardon Court shopping precinct is.

  • The people who hang around this area have nothing else to do, and their parents don't give a damn. If you get a congregation of youths anywhere, there will, eventually, be trouble.

The demise of youth clubs is a great loss as there was always something going on that would keep young people occupied. Park areas are at a premium and so the days of getting a football with your mates and going to the park for a kick-around do not really exist anymore.

The fact that youths today have no respect for the authorities is a major problem when we talk about this. If they have no fear then they will have no respect.

The answer is to give back to parents the ability to chastise and the police the ability to restore authority. - Dave, a Woodloes resident for 26 years (name and address supplied).

its sad that the woodloes has been subjected to children being left to walk the streets night after night, being abusive to all who pass, this is not a new thing, the shops area has been beseiged by youths, children for so long now, after all they are children, they should be at home, or given a youth facilty to attend, like the 70s/80s. you would think that in 2009 all children would be catered for with an activity, maybe the parents should show responsibility and take control of their children, so as other people can go about their business and not feel violated and intimidated, and police the area with more vigilant patrols from police officers, not community support officers that have little or no power at all

NICE IDEA TO REWARD THE LITTLE DARLINGS HANGING AROUND THE REARDON COURT SHOPS ON THE WOODLOES WITH A YOUTH CLUB OF THEIR VERY OWN THAT THEY COULD DESTROY,JUST LIKE THE AREA THEY ARE DESTROYING IN THE VICINTY OF THE SHOPPING AREA.

UNFORTUNATELY THE IDEAS THAT APPLIED YEARS AGO DO NOT APPLY TO THESE UNSUPERVISED AND ILL BROUGHT UP IDIOTS.
