ELEGANT, delicate and unique glass artworks by four contrasting artists go on display at a Warwick gallery on Friday.

The Vision of Glass at the Mitchell Gallery is showcasing the work of well-established professionals Allister Malcolm and Sue Parry, as well as emerging talents Anda Nason, of Leamington, and Luise Buckberry of Warwick.

Toni Storey, of the gallery, said: “It’s really a celebration of glass. The hope is that it is the sort of art that you don’t see around a lot. We wanted an eclectic mix of beautiful art and these four artists most certainly deliver.”

She describes the work of Allister Malcolm, whose glass works - which includes platters, plates and bowls - have been presented to heads of state visiting the UK, as “beautiful, collectable and portable” which are “Antiques Roadshow items of the future”.

A regular exhibitor at the gallery, Allister has worked with gallery owner Tom Mitchell on a special collection for the display called Angel Range.

Visitors to the gallery may also have seen the work of Sue Parry, whose large glass wave - designed to look like a cross between water and wood - will form part of the exhibition.

Meanwhile, showcasing her work for the first time is Anda Nason, a fashion designer who recently gained a masters degree in textiles and surface pattern. Anda deploys an unusal technique of etching into strengthened glass which can be used around the house as doors, partitions or tables, for example.

Toni said: “She approached us and I went to see more of her work. i fell in love with it. It’s so incredibly clever.”

And Luise Buckberry, another emerging artist, also impressed the team at the Mitchell Gallery for her original glass panels onto which she paints abstract designs and creates undulating surfaces. Toni said: “It’s highly original and innovative. I have never seen anything like it before.”

Works are also available to buy.

The Vision of Glass opens today at the Mitchell Gallery in Church Street, Warwick, and will be on until mid August. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday 10.30am to 5.30pm, on Sundays 11am to 4pm and by appointment. For further details, call 408787 or go online.
