Cubbington group in black comedy
The Cubbington Players are staging Derek Benfield's Over My Dead Body this weekend. Picture submitted.
THE CUBBINGTON Players will stage Derek Benfield’s black comedy Over My Dead Body at the village hall from tonight (Thursday) until Saturday.
Gerald James, the play’s main character, is a widower who hopes to spend the rest of his life alone, with his memories. However, his friends and family have other ideas and this leads to a series of unexpected events that Gerald had not anticipated.
Having never been one to ‘forward plan’ like his wife had always done, he has to think quickly to strive to maintain his independence.
The play, produced by Christine Squire and co-produced by Jan Denning stars Barry West as Gerald, Sam Kneeshaw as Shirley Tyler, Tim Hurrell as Mark Tyler, Amanda Eddison as Brenda West, Isobel French as Cath Staton and Carol Capstick as Rebecca Warner.
Performances start at 7.45pm and tickets cost £6 or £4.50 for concessions.
Tickets are available from Lifestyle Express in Queen Street, Bargain Booze and Select Convenience in Rugby Road and Ricky’s Convenience Store in Cubbington Road.
They can also be booked by calling 330609 or emailing tickets@cubbingtonplayers.com
The players are also holding an open evening at the village hall in Broadway on Monday for people to find out how the hall is transformed into a theatre.
Visitors can try their hand at stage lighting and sound effects, rummage through the costume wardrobe and even deliver some lines on stage.
The event will run from 8pm to 10pm.
