A HAUNTING love story by one of the nation’s greatest storytellers will be dramatically re-told in a one-woman show in Warwick on Friday.

Julie Ann Cooper, of JAC’s Intimate Productions, blends narration, some of Dickens’ original text and interpretations of his characters in the performance, which is marking the bicentenary of the writer’s birth.

At the centre of the story is an orphan girl, a ‘non person’, who is told that it would have been better had she not be born.

The audience will be taken through her plight and her journey and share the stories of other characters, who are all connected directly or indirectly with this orphan.

Julie Ann said: “Within the story there is a colourful spectrum of characters who make us laugh and cry - there is a ghost story, a murder mystery and a death-defying love story.

“In fact it is a universal amalgamation of all the stories that have ever been told – there is something for every listener.

“Charles Dickens tells you a tale - and I trust you will never forget it. Bleak House is unforgettable and haunting.”

The performance, which is not suitable for young children, takes place at the Quaker Meeting House in High Street, Warwick, on Friday at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 (£8 concessions).

There will also be performances at Lichfield Guild Hall tonight (Wednesday) and at The Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham on Wednesday November 28.
