Tackling anti-social behaviour, saving energy and keeping green belt land are priorities for a new Warwick District Councillor.
Nick Pittarello (Lib Dem, Leamington Milverton) was elected for the first time this May after being involved in politics for just four years, He said: "It was deeply honoured to be elected.
"I think it is going to be very hard to follow in the footsteps of Margaret Begg who was a brilliant councillor."
In order for a councillor to serve their constituents well Coun Pittarello, who lives in Campriano Drive, Warwick, said: "You have to be able to listen and be confident.
"It's also important to be able to work with all kinds of people and cope with different types of arguing."
Coun Pittarello first became interested in politics during the Iraq war in 2003. He said: "Seeing so many people wanting a democracy, I started to think what I was doing to help democracy in this country and that is how I got involved."

"I think that is because it is very hard to manage a full-time job and be a councillor.
Coun Pittarello, who was born in London, has lived in Warwick for 11 years. He works as a charge manager for National Grid and lives with his wife Debbie, who is expecting the couple's first child.
The chemistry graduate believes anti-social behaviour and housing are among the main issues for Milverton and is also keen to look after the environment. He said: "Green spaces are important and should be remain between towns we can't just be a very long urban splurge.
"Working at National Grid I am very aware of the need for energy and I think it is important to encourage energy saving in council and private properties."
Although he does not live in his ward Coun Pittarello believes he can still take an active role in the community. He said: "I live a five-minute cycle away and we have regular surgeries. I got voted in so residents of Milverton don't think it is an issue."
