Actors from Cubbington have pitted their wits against five of Britain's best quiz brains in a television show.
The Cubbington Players took part in Eggheads in the summer and the programme will be broadcast on BBC2 on November 18.

Barry West, who is a producer for the amateur dramatic group, was not allowed to reveal the result of the contest but said the team of six had a really good time.

He said: "It was absolutely amazing - we got through the auditions against four other teams. We didn't think we had done very well but they must have had a good feeling about us and liked the rapport we had, as, lo and behold, we were picked.

"We were made to feel really comfortable and everyone was delightful."

The Eggheads are a team of five quiz champions who include Judith Keppel, the first winner of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?, Mastermind winner Kevin Ashman and Mensa chess champion CJ de Mooi.

Contestants, who could win thousands of pounds, must select team members to compete individually in elimination rounds against an Egghead of their choice.

The surviving Eggheads and contestants then compete in a final general knowledge round.

Current affairs presenter Jeremy Vine is the show's host.

Mr West, who was a reserve for the team, said: "What came out of it was the fact that all the Eggheads work so hard - they have to do four shows a day and they do earn their money.

"Seeing Chris, Sarah, Mark, Chris and Tony taking on the joint might of CJ, Chris, Kevin, Daphne and Judith was one of those pinch-yourself, you've got to be dreaming, experiences." The show will be televised at 6pm.

The Cubbington Players' next production is the pantomime of Snow White And The Seven Dwarves in January.

Auditions are being held at Cubbington village hall on Monday and on November 3 at 8pm.
