Leamington pensioner defies sex offences order
A Leamington pensioner who has repeatedly broken orders designed to stop him committing sex offences has been remanded in custody.
Raymond Keegan, 71 and of no fixed address, pleaded guilty at Warwick Crown Court to two charges.
The first related to the former Gresham Place resident 'associating with and befriending' an 82-year-old man who was vulnerable because of his mental health and learning difficulties.
Keegan was also alleged to have attended the Woodloes House day hospital for vulnerable adults.
Both actions contravened a sexual offences prevention order imposed as part of a custodial sentence by Stratford magistrates last August.
On that occasion Keegan was jailed for 11 months for two breaches of an order imposed in 2005.
He had contacted staff at a Lillington church to ask if there were any children in the youth group who would like guitar lessons and attended a family-specific service, breaking a prohibition on doing anything likely to bring him into contact with under-16s.
The pensioner had originally been given an order, and a caution, for indecently assaulting a girl in 2004.
At the latest hearing, the accused denied a third breach by allegedly behaving towards a woman in a sexual manner.
But prosecutor Glyn Samuel said that in view of Keegan's two guilty pleas, he was content for that charge to lie on file without being proceeded with.
At the request of Ian Speed, defending, the case was adjourned for a report to be prepared on Keegan, who was remanded in custody by Judge Christopher Hodson.
