Despite having spent 14 years teaching in a more exotic location, Stockton Primary's new headteacher is more than content with her current role.
Lucie Buran, 46, took charge of the school in January. She said: “It’s the best job in the world.”

Before working as headteacher in Tysoe and Kineton schools, Mrs Buran was based in Izmir, Turkey, for 14 years teacher-training and setting up schools. She said: “I got married while I was out there so ended up staying for a long time.”

But since coming back to the UK five years ago and making Wellesbourne her home with husband Necmi and children Leyla, 12, and Matty, 15, Mrs Buran seems to have found her niche.

She added: “It’s really nice to be bringing a multicultural aspect to Stockton. The children are so beautifully behaved and it’s such a lovely school - the staff are very committed and motivated.”
