An experienced motorcyclist out riding with fellow biking enthusiasts was killed in an accident at Fenny Compton, an inquest has heard.
Alan Bernard Fitchett, of Rushmoor Drive, Coventry, died at the scene of the crash on the A423 on February 10.

The 60-year-old failed to take a corner on a winding section of the road while riding with a group of eight fellow enthusiasts.

He fe
ll from his bike after it hit a car. He then slid into the path of a second car.

The driver of the second car, Graham Keith Wilson, described how he had been driving towards Southam shortly after midday when the accident took place.

He said Mr Fitchett’s Suzuki GSXR750 motorcycle had followed another which had successfully rounded a sweeping bend, but he was not leaned as far over when he approached the corner.

His bike crossed into the wrong side of the road and struck the side of a black Peugeot 206 and Mr Fitchett fell off and slid into the path of Mr Wilson’s BMW.

Warwickshire and Coventry coroner Sean McGovern recorded that Mr Fitchett had died as a result of an accident, and that his death had almost certainly been instantaneous.

He said: “All I can do is offer you my condolences as a result of your sad loss.”

Speaking after the inquest, Mr Fitchett’s daughter Clare Fitchett, 32, of Parkside, Coventry, said her father had ridden motorcycles for much of his life and prided himself on taking part in safe riding events.

Mr Fitchett, a plumber and heating engineer, was a member of West Mids Riders and often took part in charity events.

Friends and fellow riders donated £1,000 to Warwick-shire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance at his funeral.

She added: “Bikes were his passion.

“He was a very well respected man in his line of work.”
