Not many pieces of garden furniture come tried and tested by Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.
But then this addition - formerly Coventry City Football Club's away dugout - is a true one-off.

It was snapped up by Mayfair Security chairman Tony Walsh, who shipped it to his Kenilworth home for son Adam, 16.

The avid fans attended an auction of items from the club's former Highfield Road ground last month.

A determined bidder bought the home dugout for £1,050.

But Mr Walsh swooped for the away shelter at £200 - and paid five times that amount to move it.

A crane had to be employed to lift the piece of footballing history over his fence to give it pride of place in the garden.

Adam, a Princethorpe College student with an impressive array of Sky Blues memorabilia, said: "When we first heard about the auction we joked about getting a dugout, but started talking about it more and more.

"It ended up turning into a serious plan."

Mr Walsh added: "We've been inundated with people wanting to come round and get their picture taken in the dugout.

"It's part of the club's history."

The nine seats, still with an "away team" sign, have hosted some of British football's top names.

But with the Sky Blues settling into the Jaguar Arena this season, they are now used during five-a-side matches.

And for once, warming the bench has never been more popular.
