Police have recovered 52 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated value of £2.5 million from Birdingbury.
A villager contacted police to report three cardboard boxes had been left outside his house and that he was suspicious of their contents.

Officers went to the house and discovered a large quantity of drugs on the man's driveway.

A further box was located nearby - taking the estimated street value to £2.5 million. The drugs were taken to a secure location outside of Warwickshire.

Police immediately launched an investigation to locate the person who had abandoned the boxes.

At 6.15 pm on May 1 - just three-and-a-half hours after the boxes arrived - a 47-year-old man was arrested in Northamptonshire and taken into custody in Rugby on suspicion of with intent to supply.

Hassan Ceesay of South East London was later charged and appeared at Nuneaton Magistrates. He pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to be sentenced at Warwick Crown Court at a date to be fixed.

Police continue to investigate the incident and are working with the Metropolitan Police as the enquiry continues.

Anyone who has information in connection with this incident should call Warwickshire Police on 01926 415000.
