The Southam-based Windmill Singers are thrilled after having received a blessing from the Archbishop of Canterbury for their forthcoming Easter concert.
The choir, which was founded in Napton in 1964, invited Justin Welby, whose first post was as the vicar of St James’ church in Southam, to their performances of John Stainer’s The Cruxifiction yesterday (Wednesday) and on Friday (April 18). Although he is unable to attend, he wrote to them: “It is a joy for me to send this message of warm good wishes. I wish you every blessing.”
Tomorrow’s concert, conducted by Gary Beman with Adrian Moore on the organ, takes place at St Gregory’s church in Offchurch at 7pm. Call 813477.
