Boy’s dream to hug Mum is fulfilled after weight loss

A previously overweight Hampton Magna mother whose son told her his dream was to be able to put his arms all the way around her has managed to fulfil that dream for him.

Rebecca Hilliar, 39, was unhappy and gained eight stone after being told that she and her husband Darren would not be able to have any more children - but when her son told her: “Mummy, my dream is to be able to put my arms round all of you so I can hug all of you and make you smile and happy”, a friend encouraged her to join a Slimming World group.

She said: “It was the best thing she could have ever done for me. It has made a huge difference to mine and my family’s life and I have been able to make my son’s dream come true. I have now lost over six stone and can happily confirm his arms fit all the way round me and even overlap!”

She added: “I have even gained the confidence to put my swimsuit on and go swimming with my son and get out and start doing exercise.”
