Burglars target a number of shops in Warwick town centre

Burglars targeted four different Warwick businesses last weekend, and managed to successfully steal from two of them.

The first incident occurred in Brook Street between 5.30pm on Friday February 18 and 7.30am on Saturday February 19.

Offenders forced entry forced through the rear of the property, and stole cash from the shop’s safe. This is incident number 89.

On the same night between 11.45pm and 7.55am the following morning, offenders forced open the rear door of a pub in Brook Street. Once inside, the offenders entered an office and forced open a safe to steal cash from inside.

The offenders also forced open a till and stole cash and receipts from the till drawer, along with a hessian bag containing cash tips.

They carried out a search of the office area and interfered with security systems before making off. This is incident number 92.

There were also two attempted burglaries on the same night.

A restaurant in Market Place was targeted, but offenders unsuccessfully attempted to force open a rear entrance to the property. Nothing was taken. This is incident number 109.

And a shop, also in Market Place, was attempted to be broken into, but offenders could not force their way in and left empty-handed. This is incident number 178.

Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the burglaries or to anyone who has information.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area is asked to call police on 101, quoting the relevant incident number.
