Police have arrested a suspected burglar after the unwitting suspect stopped to make himself a late-night snack at a house in Leamington.

Warwickshire Police were called to reports of a burglary at a home in Rugby Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Officers arrived to find a suspect still at the scene after he had stopped to make himself a snack from the contents of the fridge.

An arrest was made and nobody is thought to have been injured in the break-in.

A police spokesperson said: “A 35-year-old was arrested on suspicion of burglary after a break-in along Rugby Road in the early hours of Saturday, March 12.

“He has been released on police bail until April 27 pending further inquiries.”
