Sylvie said: “Being a member of Girlguiding has given me lots of exciting opportunities. I would never have got to go to Japan without guiding and am so excited about taking part in this adventure of a lifetime.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting other young people from across the globe, finding out about their lives and working together to make a positive difference.”

Sylvie, a member of Cubbington Rangers group, will be one of around 4,000 Guides and Scouts from across the UK taking part in the 12-day event next summer.

As part of a team of 40 young people, Sylvie will have the opportunity to immerse herself in Japanese culture, explore the latest developments in science and technology and help to raise awareness of global issues such as the environment and human rights.
