Darts player Nigel Heydon arranges exhibition event for cause close to his heart

A professional darts player from Lillington is hoping to use his profile to help raise awareness of a genetic disease that he has a personal link with.

Nigel Heydon’s 26-year-old stepdaughter Melissa has suffered with Tuberous Sclerosis all her life.

The disease has left her with tumours all over her body and unable to speak - and 
research is underway to find out more about treatments.

To help towards the funds, Nigel has arranged a darts exhibition charity night in aid of Tuberous Sclerosis Association (TSA).

The event will feature six professional players who have volunteered to give their time for free.

Nigel, who is ranked number 61 in the world, is now hoping for raffle donations or sponsors to come forward to help with the event and pay for the players’ travel and maybe hotels.

For far, John Taylors Funeral Service, CBS Security of Coleshill, Warwickshire County Darts, Bishopsgate Coventry and The Warwickshire Golf and Country Club have come forward.

The fundraiser will take place on June 7 at the Lillington Club.

But before that, another event will be held tonight (Friday). Jamie Caven from the Professional Darts Corporation - and ranked 23 in the world - will be at the Holly Bush in Leamington, with all proceeds raised on the night going to TSA.
