On March 14, the school, working with the Association of School and College Leaders’ Great Education Debate, hosted a Question Time event with a panel consisting of Warwick and Leamington MP Chris White, Labour prospective parliamentary candidate Lynette Kelly, secondary school headteacher David Hazeldine, Myton Hospice’s chief executive Kate Lee, Calor Gas’s head of strategy and corporate affairs Paul Blacklock and Myton School’s head girl Hannah Cooke.

Myton’s headteacher Paul McIntyre, who chaired the event, said: “It was a big success. There were some humorous moments when the panel were asked about the best and worst aspects of their education, but also lots of serious discussion about the way employment is affected by educational standards.

“The concensus that education is very important came out well - particularly from Chris and Lynette. Their committment to education was very refreshing.”

He added: “Our students are very aware of the challenging circumstances that face education at the moment and their questions were well thought out.

“We have to get education right in this country to be able to have a prosperous and successful future. This debate was fantastic - we all really enjoyed it.”
