The sun shone down on the hundreds of people who supported the Myton Hospices by going along to the charity’s summer fete in Warwick.

Visitors at the event, which took place at Myton’s hospice in Myton Lane on July 19, were able to enjoy live entertainment whilst perusing a wide variety of stalls.

There was also the chance to enjoy a Downton Abbey-style afternoon tea at the site’s Day Hospice and learn how to sword fight at a ‘Knight School’.

And this year, the charity’s annual auction, organised and hosted by Rob Ripley from John Taylor Funeral Directors, raised a record £3,285. Prizes included holidays and celebrity memorabilia.

Other attractions included a bottle tombola, which raised £2,081 and was organised by Sheilagh Moffat and members of Rotary Leamington Spa Regency.

Myton event organiser Lucy Turner said: “It was a fantastic day and we were thrilled to see so many people coming out to support us and enjoying the wonderful weather. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to support us, donated items and volunteered on the day and an extra special thank you to the team from John Taylor Funeral Service for all their amazing hard work with the auction.”

This is the second summer event held at the charity’s hospices this month. Members of the charity’s Coventry support group also organised a Summer Fayre at the Coventry hospice earlier this month, which raised £1,845.

The charity needs to raise more than £8 million to keep its services running. To find out more, visit www.mytonhospice,org
