A team from a national health organisation will be taking part in the next Kids Run Free event in Warwick.
To help encourage children to remain active throughout the winter, the Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Centre team in Warwick is joining the event at St Nicholas Park on December 19.
Children and their parents are being invited to dress in Christmas-themed clothing for the event, at which every child taking part will receive a Nuffield Health goodie bag.
The charity is aiming to promote running as part of a healthy lifestyle to not just children, but to everyone.
Tom Eales, sales executive at Nuffield Health, said: “At Nuffield Health Warwick we have been actively looking to get more involved in local community projects, particularly those in the field of health and wellbeing.
“Having heard about Kids Run Free and the fantastic work that they do, we decided that we’d love to get involved to help them try and educate children on the benefits of exercise from a young age.”
The running events at St Nicholas Park take place every first and third Saturdays of the month at 9am. There are individual races for each age category, with distances ranging from 50m to 5km and there are free gifts to collect with every 16 events attended.
There is also a Kids Run Free event at Newbold Comyn in Leamington every Saturday at 9am, as well as events in Stratford, Rugby, Coventry, Solihull and across the Midlands and further afield.
Anyone aged 16 or under of any running ability can take part free of charge, but those wishing to enroll their child must register in advance online to obtain a barcode so that their time can be recorded.
Adults can also get involved as volunteers to help run an event: to find out more, email email@example.com
Those wishing to attend the Warwick event on December 19 are asked to arrive at 8.45am for registration and warm-up.
