Age UK Warwickshire hosts the café on the last Monday of every month at The Moorings Bar and Restaurant on Myton Road in Leamington.

The café aims to support people with memory problems, along with their families and carers, through music, which is recognised as being important in helping to bridge memories.

Dozens of people have contributed to the café since its launch last summer, from volunteer musicians and local schools through to businesses, including law firm Wright Hassall, Calor, and Nicola Smyth Hair.

Linda O’Sullivan, from Age UK Warwickshire, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the dementia café.

“It’s really taken us by surprise how much people have got behind what we’re trying to do and we’re delighted to launch the CD to mark a year since our launch.

“We’ve got some fantastic music on the CD and proceeds raised will be going to Age UK Warwickshire, so get buying copies!”

Wright Hassall supported the launch of the café and has eight trained dementia champions across the firm who have been playing an active role in the Musical Memories Dementia Café.

Mitra Mann, associate and dementia champion at Wright Hassall, said: “Our team has played an active role at as many of the events at the café as possible and it is fantastic the first year has gone so well.

“We helped Age UK Warwickshire with the launch of the charity calendar a few years ago, and we’ve really enjoyed offering our support to Linda and the volunteers at the café and wish them all the best with selling as many CDs as possible.”

To buy a CD, for a minimum donation of £10, or to support Age UK Warwickshire’s Musical Memories Café through volunteering contact Linda O’Sullivan on 07789 003450.
