Sylvie Ward and Olivia Gorvett will be part of a team visiting Miami Keys, New York and Washington DC in August.

Their team will be one of 11 from Girlguiding Midlands taking part in the The Senior Section Goes Stateside event in which they will spend 11 days exploring the USA and Canada on a set budget.

It all begins with an American-themed opening ceremony in Hyde Park before the teams fly to New York.

From there, each team of six girls and two leaders will have chosen the three states they are visiting, which charity to help on a day of service and which challenges to complete - aiming to win the Stateside Trophy.

Each ranger needs to raise £1,100 for their flights and initial accommodation then £1,200 for their spending budget.

Cubbington Rangers are holding a skittles night at the village hall today (Saturday) to raise funds for Sylvie and Olivia.

Tickets are available at Costcutter in Queen Street.
