Businesses close to the new shop, Debenhams staff from other stores and dignitaries, including Parminder Birdi the chairman of Leamington Chamber of Trade, were welcomed to an invite only pre-launch party at the store on Wednesday before the doors were opened to the public this morning (Thursday).
Store manager Kerry Makey, who has worked for Debenhams for 25 years, said: “It’s very exciting, I came on to the project about 12 weeks ago when the site was just a shell and I can’t believe it is what it is now.
“It’s fantastic for Leamington.”
About 100 new jobs have been created by the store including temporary Christmas staff, who have already been recruited.
