More than 7,000 started the race but Faye Barr and her dad Richard were among just 2,200 finishers in last week’s Tough Guy Challenge in Staffordshire.
Faye, aged 21, is a fitness instructor in Warwick, but admits she suffered claustrophobia and panic attacks as part of the 15 kilometre route.
Richard, aged 53, who ironically works as a risk assessor for the district council in Leamington, was one of the oldest contestants in the challenge.
His main problem was several bouts of vomiting after swallowing too much river water - something Faye managed to avoid by wading through.
Other parts of the challenge involved running, crawling, climbing and coping with potential electric shocks.
Despite the ordeal, the pair completed the course in three hours 52 minutes.
They also raised £190 for the Children in Need appeal.
