“I am very proud and happy to be the first female president of our wonderful, friendly, diverse and cosmopolitan club, but the role remains the same - to ensure that Kenilworth Golf Club strives to be the best-run club in the area with the course that all others aspire to.”

Prior to becoming president, Ann played a key part in many committees at the club after she retired in 2000.

She has been the social events organiser, House Chair, Ladies’ match and competitions Secretary, on the Equality and disability working parties, Ladies’ Captain and a director of the Club until 2013.

Ann regularly plays the sport and organises several matches in her spare time. She also organises the volunteer coffee shop at St Michael’s psychiatric hospital.

Chairman of Kenilworth Golf Club Richard Joyce said: “We are delighted to appoint Ann as our president, particularly at a time when there is so much controversy about equality in golf.

“Kenilworth Golf Club prides itself in being a forward-thinking club and this appointment shows our commitment to the importance of ladies in golf.”
