Police officers in Warwickshire are among the least fit in the country, results from national police fitness tests have shown.
Results submitted to the College of Policing show that 5.6 per cent of Warwickshire officers who took the test - which involves reaching a certain level during a ‘bleep’ test of increasingly faster 15m shuttle runs - failed to pass.
The worst failure rate was in Suffolk (seven per cent), while 5.8 per cent of officers failed at the West Midlands force and 5.5 per cent at the Gwent force. Out of 30,000 tests at 39 forces across the country, 851 officers failed to pass.
The current guidelines state that officers are expected to run four shuttles each within 6.9 seconds.
