HE received a dreaded ‘blackout’ on Take Me Out but plenty of women now hold a torch for a lute-playing Warwick historian.

Adam Busiakiewicz, 23, who was born in Leamington and attended Alcester Grammar School, appeared on the popular ITV dating show on Saturday night and despite failing to find a date he made an impression with many female viewers, who have since contacted him through letters, emails, tweets and on Facebook to express their interest.

Adam’s attempts to find an admirer among the 30 women on the show started well after he came down to the sounds of This Charming Man by The Smiths and charmed most of them with his accent, appearance and manner.

But after he revealed more about himself, including his job as head of Warwick Castle’s history team and his interest in antiques, less of them found him to their liking.

And in the third round Adam’s performance of Greensleeves on his lute was cut short when the remaining three interested women decided he was not the man for them.

Adam, who was selected for the show after responding to an email asking for lute players to take part, said: “Sometimes you have to just take a risk.

“I was quite gutted but it was a bit risky to play the lute. It’s not the natural thing you see on the show but it was all good fun and I really enjoyed the experience.

“The girls on the show aren’t my type really and Mark Wright, the presenter on The Gossip, asked me what I meant by that afterwards, but they were really nice.

“I’m a bit of an old soul and I enjoy things like art and history and I have a great job, which I love and I am proud to do.”

As a result of Adam’s television appearance This Charming Man became a trend on Twitter for the evening, while Heat Magazine tweeted “We know we should hate this, but we want to be serenaded by a man with a lute! Poor old Adam”.

An art dealer in his spare time, Adam has been contacted through his website by fans of the show asking him for a date.

He said: “I’ve had hundreds of tweets and women have been getting in touch on Facebook and they’ve said some really nice things,

“I’m overwhelmed and I feel really flattered by the compliments and the attention.

“I’m still looking for my princess, perhaps she will turn up one day.”
