Breaking news: Napton Festival cancelled

The Napton Music Festival due to take place this weekend has been cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions.

Bands such as Toploader and tribute act Guns2Roses had been booked to play at the two-day event, which was due to start this evening.

A statement has been posted on the festival’s website by its organisers expressing their regret and explaining the reasons for the cancellation which include a waterlogged backstage area.

Gordon Clarke, a festival organiser, said: “You have to run events like this under stringent rules.

“You can set up a stage and a beer tent but when you can’t get on and off the site then that is it.

“There is also the risk of injury and everything else.”
