Cars sprayed in Christmas Eve graffiti spree

Vandals sprayed foul language and swastikas on at least 28 cars across north Leamington on Christmas Eve.

Owners of cars in Newbold Terrace East, Rosefield Street, Lansdowne Street, Lower Villiers Street and Clarendon Square woke up on Christmas morning to find red lines, swastikas or four-letter words on their car paintwork.

Clarendon Square resident Howard Wilson said six cars in the square had been sprayed.

He said: “It’s very disappointing that people are that stupid. I don’t know what possesses somebody to do it.”

Police believe spray paint was used in the attacks, which took place between 9pm and midnight, but Mr Wilson said some victims had cleaned the paint themselves.

Acting Sgt Jon Belcher said an investigation was underway and extra patrols would be put in place over the New Year. Anyone with information should call 684263.
