Firefighters tackle chemical factory blaze

FIREFIGHTERS from Leamington were among those who were called to tackle a fire at a chemical factory in Baginton yesterday (Sunday).
The fire broke out at Coventry Chemicals in Siskin Drive at about 6.30pm.
Large plumes of black smoke could be seen in the sky above the village.
A Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “A severe fire was located at the rear of the premises away from the main building. “Approximately 20,000 empty plastic five litre containers and 50 tonnes of pallets were involved in the fire.
“Two breathing apparatus, two mainline jets, two hose reel jets and a light portable pump were in use.
“Appliances from Leamington, Rugby, Nuneaton, Atherstone and Alcester attended.”
