Flood alert in Leamington area
THE Environment Agency has issued a flood alert warning for the River Leam and the River Itchen at low-lying ground stretching from Grandborough and Leamington.
Following the heavy and persistent rain during the past week, river levels continue to rise, meaning flooding could start today (Tuesday).
Showers, possibly heavy, have been forecast for today, which would exacerbate the problem.
Levels are now steady on the River Itchen but could rise again after showers.
The alert means that people in the area should be prepared in case of flooding. This includes making a food plan and preparing your property. For further details, call 0845 988 1188 or go online.
