Guide Dogs charity - new housing project
THE Guide Dogs for the Blind Association is seeking permission to demolish Tollgate House, its former headquarters building in Banbury Road, Bishops Tachbrook, after building new offices in the grounds.
Next Tuesday (Jan 15) members of the district council’s planning committee are due to decide whether to allow Tollgate House and a nearby bungalow to be bulldozed and replaced with six houses.
The charity will raise extra funds by selling these - two as “affordable” homes.
Members of Bishops Tachbrook parish council have raised some objections to the proposals, although they do recognise that the current building is unused and lies largely ‘brownfield’ rather than green belt land.
They want any decision to be postponed until they have a chance to complete a neighbourhood local plan currently being prepared. Two other letters of objection have been sent on the grounds that there would be a conflict between any new home owners and the working Tollgate Farm.
But planning officer Jo Hogarth is recommending members of the district council to agree outline planning consent subject to conditions on layout, scale and landscaping.
