H&M taking the place of Leamington's Woolworths
One of the Parade's most prominent shops is preparing to throw open its doors again - but the old mix of goods will be replaced by clothing for men, women and expectant mothers.
Swedish clothing company H&M is launching its new shop at the former Woolworths site in the Parade next Thursday.
The two-floor development has created around 30 jobs in the town and has 1,700 sq m of retail space.
It will stock accessories and children's clothing as well as maternity items from the chain's MAMA range.
Chamber of Trade chairman Parminder Birdi hopes the new store will bring more visitors to Leamington.
He said: "I think it's fantastic for the town. If you asked people which three shops they would like here next, it was always one of them.
"It's a very good time for something new to be opening in the town and I think it will be an asset.
"It will bring other people to the town, on the back of which other, smaller shops can benefit."
Company UK manager Magnus Olsson said: "We are thrilled to be taking over this prime location in The Parade.
"We look forward to bringing customers in Leamington the full H&M experience of fashion, quality and value for money, offering everything from trendsetting styles to quality basics for the whole family, with new items in store every day."
Woolworths closed in December after the company went into administration with debts of 385million.
H&M revealed it was interested in the site soon afterwards.
The chain already has 147 shops in the UK and ten in Ireland. To celebrate the opening, customers who buy items on Thursday will receive a free gift.
