Leak delays opening of new Leamington nightspot

A NEW Leamington bar that was billed as “the greatest venue Leamington is ever likely to see” will open this Friday, a week after its planned opening night.
Altoria, which will operate on four floors with a ‘boutique’ VIP lounge, nightclub, bar and food, is the work of new company Warneford Bars, which has invested £1.5 million in the site.
The venue, in the former KoKo’s premises in Warwick Street, was due to open last Friday, but called off its opening night due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
Operations director Zolly Branch said a fault in an ice machine meant water dripped through from one floor onto another, dripping onto electrical circuitry, flooring and furniture.
The company had set a high standard for itself, with former Ministry of Sound operations director Tony Rigg pledging to help create “the greatest venue Leamington has seen or is ever likely to see”.
Mr Branch said: “Rather than open with a section of the venue roped off we decided to postpone the opening.”
Instead the venue will host an invitation-only opening night on Thursday (October 25) from 7pm, and open to the public on Friday at 5pm.
Mr Branch added: “We’re back and ready to go for this weekend.”
